DescriptionThe whole story▼
The centre tail piece runs along the spine of the rear end between the seat and the tail light. On a motorcycle as quick as this one it is the view most other riders get, and on a prepared machine it is also where the rear number goes.
Key Features
- Centre tail section, direct replacement for the original panel
- 245 Twill weave in clear coat, matt or raw
- Autoclave-cured laminate along a narrow spine between the two tail flanks
- Original mounting points and fasteners, tail light untouched
- Shared with the S1000RR of the same period
Adhesive Number Boards Need a Surface
Vinyl lifts at the corners on a textured surface long before it lifts on a smooth one. If the machine runs numbers on the tail, a lacquered panel holds them noticeably better than bare weave, and that is one of the few practical arguments for clear coat on a racing motorcycle.
Riders using magnetic or strapped boards can ignore this entirely and buy on price. It is worth deciding before ordering, because peeling a board off raw carbon at the end of a season is its own small misery.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW M1000RR, model years 2023 through 2026, on the original tail fixings. Shared with the S1000RR. It does not fit the 2019-2022 machines.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Tail sections carry lighting and plate mountings, so check what is attached to the original before removing it.
Where the Air Leaves
The shape of the tail decides how the wake behind a motorcycle closes, which is why manufacturers spend time on a part almost nobody looks at. A replacement of identical geometry preserves that; a panel that sits a few millimetres proud does not, in a small way that nobody will ever measure.
It is mentioned here not because it changes lap times but because it is the reason to fit the panel properly rather than approximately. Get the edges flush with the flanks and the part is doing everything it was drawn to do.
