DescriptionThe whole story▼
Order the heat shield with it. This silencer pair cannot be fitted without one, and Akrapovic supplies it as a separate item with a different part number per model: P-HST12SO3 for the T120, P-HST12SO4 for the T100. If you are unsure which Bonneville you have, tell us the model year and we will put the right one in the box.
Key Features
- 4.3 kg against the standard 6.5 kg: 2.2 kg and 33.8 per cent less
- 4.87 Nm more at 2,500 rpm — just above idle, which is where a Bonneville is ridden
- 2.6 PS (1.9 kW) more at 6,700 rpm, with peak output rising to 73.4 PS
- A pair of silencers with titanium outer sleeves, in the Bonneville's own twin-exit layout
- Thirty minutes to fit, removable noise insert supplied
- EC and ECE type approved
- Heat shield P-HST12SO3 (T120) or P-HST12SO4 (T100) required, ordered separately
Torque at 2,500 rpm
Almost five newton metres, at two and a half thousand revs. That figure is remarkable for a slip-on and it is exactly the right place for it: a Bonneville is a motorcycle you ride in top gear at low revs, letting the twin pull. An exhaust that added the same torque at 7,000 rpm would be a worse product for this bike, however better the number looked.
The 2.6 PS higher up is the smaller half of the story. Peak torque rises from 91.8 to 94.7 Nm, and the useful gain sits below three thousand.
T100 and T120 Are Different Engines
Triumph's Bonneville range in these years ran two capacities that look nearly identical from the side: the T100 with the 900 cc twin and the T120 with the 1,200. This silencer pair fits both — but the mandatory heat shield does not, which is why there are two part numbers for it.
The measurements published here were taken on the larger engine. On a T100 the pair fits identically and the weight saving is the same, because the silencers are the same objects.
Why the Heat Shield Is Mandatory
The Bonneville's silencers run close to the rider's leg and, on a bike with a pillion, to the passenger's. Triumph's standard units carry an integrated shield; the Akrapovic pair does not, so the separate shield takes over that job. It is not a styling accessory and the system should not be ridden without it.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-T12SO4-HCQT covers the Triumph Bonneville T100, T100 Black and T120 from model year 2016 through 2020, and is supplied as a pair. The noise insert is included; the heat shield is not.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencers are legal replacement parts for road use in the European Union.
