DescriptionThe whole story▼
Akrapovic showed this silencer at EICMA in 2017, at the same show where Kawasaki launched the Ninja H2 SX. It was drawn for that specific motorcycle rather than adapted to it afterwards, and the relief imprints on the carbon end cap and heat shield follow the bodywork's own lines.
Key Features
- Over 33 per cent lighter than the standard system
- 2.0 PS more at 6,750 rpm and 2.0 Nm more at 6,600 rpm
- High-grade stainless steel construction with a lightweight titanium outer sleeve, coated black
- Handmade carbon fibre end cap and heat shield, both with relief imprints
- Compatible with the Kawasaki side cases — this is a touring machine and stays one
- Sound tuned to the supercharged engine rather than to a generic four
- EC and ECE type approved, no remapping required
Designed With the Motorcycle
Most aftermarket silencers arrive a year or two after the bike, once the aftermarket has caught up. This one was presented alongside the H2 SX, which is why it sits flush against the tail instead of hanging below it, and why the black coating matches a machine that Kawasaki finished in dark tones from the start.
Supercharged, and What That Means Here
A supercharged engine is less sensitive to exhaust changes than a naturally aspirated one, because the blower rather than the exhaust sets the pressure the engine sees. The 2 PS and 2 Nm here are honest numbers for that reality, and they arrive in the middle of the rev range at 6,600 to 6,750 rpm — where a heavy sports-tourer actually accelerates.
The reason to fit it is a third of the exhaust weight gone from high on the tail, and the sound of a supercharged four that the standard system holds back.
The Panniers Stay
The H2 SX is Kawasaki's fast tourer, and most of them carry the factory side cases. This silencer is dimensioned around them, so nothing has to come off permanently to make it fit.
Stainless Under Titanium
This is not a full-titanium silencer, and that is deliberate. The structure is high-grade stainless steel; the titanium is the outer sleeve. On a 260 kg sports-tourer that gets ridden in all weather with luggage strapped to it, a stainless core survives road salt and vibration better than a thin titanium shell would, while the titanium sleeve still takes the weight out of the visible mass.
The black coating over it does the same job in a different way. It keeps the surface from discolouring under the heat of a supercharged engine and it hides the marks that a touring machine collects, which is why a coated finish outlasts a polished one on this kind of bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-K10SO21-HRAABL covers the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX from model year 2018 through 2020. For the Euro 5 generation from 2021 onward the corresponding part is S-K10SO30-HGIT, which carries its own catalytic converter — the two are not interchangeable.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
