DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many BMW F 850 GS owners bought the bike with one big journey in mind, the kind that crosses borders and leaves familiar workshops far behind. Getting the front brakes ready is part of the preparation. The DK006 from Accossato is a rigid steel disc without carrier or rivets, and the maker states that it swaps for the disc BMW fitted. It is listed for the F 850 GS from 2018 to 2023, the Edition 40 of 2020 and 2021 included.

- Fixed front disc for the BMW F 850 GS, 2018 to 2023, and the F 850 GS Edition 40

- 305 mm across, 181 mm inner diameter, 5 mm thick

- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the DK006 from steel as a single, rigid disc. It is 305 mm in diameter and 5 mm thick, with an inner diameter of 181 mm, and Accossato states that it can be exchanged for the disc fitted at the factory. The company, whose history includes an Enduro world championship title in 1985, says it designs its discs with experience gained in road racing.
Before the Long Trip
A long trip changes the arithmetic of maintenance. At home, a disc with a little life left can be watched and replaced when convenient. Two months into a journey, with a heavy load and mountain roads every day, it becomes a worry. Before you leave on the F 850 GS, measure both front discs and estimate how many kilometres the trip will add. If the discs will reach the minimum printed on them during the journey, change them before departure, together with fresh pads, and bed them in on the roads around home. Pack a spare set of pads, since pads are small, light and the part most likely to run out on a long trip, whereas a disc is bulky and rarely needed on the road. Take the tools for the caliper bolts too. Accossato puts the useful life of its discs at roughly thirty to forty thousand kilometres, less if they wear, groove or crack early, and one big journey can use up a large share of that.
Fitment and Compatibility
The DK006 appears on Accossato's list for the F 850 GS of 2018 to 2023 and the F 850 GS Edition 40 of 2020 and 2021. It takes the place of one original front disc. The F 850 GS carries two, and the price covers one, so a full change requires two. Compare the dimensions with the disc on your bike before you fit it.
Road Approval
For the DK006, no German ABE and no type approval have been documented. It is intended for the track.
