A flow rating is not spent evenly across a ride. It is spent in one condition: throttle wide open, engine high in its range, held there rather than brushed. Prolonging that is one of the things a fairing does, and the Streetfighter V2 has none. Take the panels off a Panigale and the rider becomes the largest object pushing air aside, which cuts every full-throttle stint on the road short enough that the intake barely registers it. An awkward opening for a listing selling the fastest-flowing cloth Sprint Filter builds, and the accurate one.
Key Features
- One dry layer of polyester weave, free of oil when new and kept free of it for good
- Sprint Filter's racing specification: 85 µm between the threads, 15,000 l/m²/sec of flow
- Under measurement it held 95.22 % of 100-micron particles, with the P08 cloth at 93.13 %
- Close to double the working surface of comparable performance filters, in the original frame
- A straight exchange for the factory panel: the housing is untouched, the mapping left alone
- Restored with compressed air rather than replaced, warranted two years from purchase
Where the naked bike does reach it
On a circuit the arithmetic turns around. Speeds are held rather than achieved, the same three or four gears come round again and again, and what ends a stint is the corner rather than the drag. A Streetfighter V2 on track days genuinely asks its intake for a sustained maximum, repeatedly, in twenty-minute stints. That is the use the PM127S F1-85 was drawn up for, and the only one in which its rating stops being a line on a data sheet.
What the elements do regardless
Away from that, the honest recommendation for this airbox is the P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec, with a P14 non-woven at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec catalogued below it for dusty work — finer holds more back and passes less, a trade rather than a ranking. Whichever goes in, none makes a standard Streetfighter V2 noticeably stronger: intake, injection and exhaust were developed together with a filter already in the path. What they do is keep the resistance of that one item low and stop it creeping: a paper panel is at its least restrictive the day it is fitted and rises from there, while a woven element is washed back to where it started.
Care and cleaning
The routine is compressed air on the clean side, blown outward, so what the cloth caught leaves by the surface it landed on rather than going deeper into it. After a winter of salt, lukewarm water and a mild washing-up liquid takes off what air leaves behind; rinse until the water runs clear. Then let it dry through in still room air — never over a heater, never near a flame, since heat is the one thing polyester will not survive — and fit it dry. The cleaning instructions sit in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Streetfighter V2 955, built from 2022 to 2024 on the Superquadro twin. Ducati reused the name in 2025 for an 890 cc machine on a different part number, so check the capacity as well as the year. Six models share this element; the list is in the Fitment tab.
