The Silencer Inlet Diameter

Spark's universal Force Evo G00SI23T, Konix Evo G00SI25T, Grid-O G00SI26T and the Megaphone cases all take a sixty millimetre inlet, as do a long list of stainless collectors on its bike-specific systems.

That makes sixty the diameter to build in if the run ends at a Spark silencer. Between this bend, the 45° and 90° versions and the straight length, an entire run from collector to case can be assembled without a bender anywhere in the workshop.

The Last Bend Before the Silencer

Thirty degrees is very often the final correction: the collector is fixed, the silencer mount is fixed, and a shallow lean is what makes the two meet. Getting that bend clocked correctly is what decides whether the case sits parallel to the swingarm or slightly nose-down.

Tape the assembly together, sit on the motorcycle, and look at it from three metres before any heat goes near it.

Gas Speed at Sixty

Sixty millimetres is generous. It suits a litre-class four, a large V-twin, or anything with a pre-silencer box ahead of it. On a middleweight it costs bottom-end response, and no choice of silencer afterwards recovers that.

Diameter is the decision that cannot be undone later without rebuilding the system, so it is worth spending time on before anything is cut.

Handling a Large Thin Bend

At sixty millimetres with a one millimetre wall the piece dents if it is dropped on a corner and goes oval if it is clamped hard. Support it along its length and clamp only on the straight tangents.

Inside the Bend After Welding

Heat tint forms inside a joint as readily as outside, and inside a curve it is difficult to see and impossible to reach with a pad. Back-purge properly and the problem does not arise; skip the purge and the inside of the bend is where the system starts to fail.
