Öhlins stamps and grinds its shims to tolerances a general-purpose washer never holds. Changing one shim in a stack alters the damping curve measurably; that is why Öhlins sells them individually rather than only as sets. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different curves.

Why the Original

Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 00187-27 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. inner diameter 8 mm, outer diameter 27 mm, thickness 0.25 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Revalving means changing the stack, which is why Öhlins sells shims individually. Outer diameter sets the lever the oil works against, and thickness sets the resistance.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 00187-27

Category: Shims

Inner Diameter: 8 mm

Outer Diameter: 27 mm

Thickness: 0.25 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/00187-27_0f65aa4c-c992-4310-ac86-c00932eec0cb.png?v=1788868871
