Why the Streetfighter V2 890's Housing Falls Short
The naked V2 890's standard throttle housing is a plastic moulding that absorbs the first hit in a crash, and once cracked it tends to take the handlebar switch's wiring with it. This piece is built to take that impact instead, leaving the switch and its wiring intact underneath.
Machined, Not Moulded
Where the original part is formed from plastic, the JP CO DU066 is cut entirely from solid Ergal, giving the Streetfighter V2 890 a housing with far more resistance to cracking or splitting than the stock component manages, even after repeated contact with the ground.
Keeping the Switch Where It Belongs
The handlebar switch that controls lights and indicators on the original assembly is carried over into this housing, so the Streetfighter V2 890 keeps its electrical controls without rewiring or adding a separate switch unit somewhere else on the bars.
What Stays With the Bike
Fitting this housing does not remove the need for the original electronic throttle unit, which stays on the Streetfighter V2 890 and is not included in this kit. The cover works around that unit rather than replacing it, so the throttle response stays exactly as before.
