DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a long descent the rear brake is not there to stop the bike. It is there to keep it settled: a steady, light drag that holds the machine straight while the front does the heavy work and the engine takes its share. A BMW F900GS with a tank bag and a rucksack on the pillion seat asks for that more often than an unladen bike. The Sintered (ST) version of the AGPP91 rear pad, listed for the F900GS of 2024 to 2026, is for riders who use the pedal that way and want it to feel the same at the bottom of the hill as at the top.

Key Features

  • Rear pads for the BMW F900GS, model years 2024 to 2026
  • AGPP91 shape in the Sintered (ST) material, article number AGPP91ST
  • Accossato promises a grip level that holds steady from cold to hot
  • The same description mentions behaviour on a wet disc
  • A box contains the two pads the rear caliper needs
  • Suits riders who use the rear brake to steady a loaded bike
  • The AGPP91 plate is also made in the OR and STMX materials
  • No German ABE documented; supplied for track and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato keeps its description of this material to one sentence, and the important word in it is constant: the grip does not move much between a cold pad and a hot one, and water on the disc does not upset it. On a rear brake that is dragged rather than stabbed, the first half of that sentence is the useful one, because a long, gentle application puts a surprising amount of heat into a small pad. The material is also slow to wear, which suits an owner who rides in winter and would rather not take the rear wheel out twice a year. Two plates come in the box, together forming the set for the rear caliper of the F900GS.

Down a Long Hill With Luggage

Mountain descents punish rear brakes more than most riders admit. The temptation is to hold the pedal down all the way, which cooks pads and disc alike and leaves you with nothing in reserve for the hairpin at the bottom. The better habit is to let the engine hold the bike in a low gear, use the front brake firmly and briefly for each corner, and keep the rear for small corrections: settling the chassis before the turn, steadying the bike where the camber falls away, holding it still at the passing place where a car is coming up. An F900GS carries its load high when the luggage goes on, and a rear wheel that locks under braking on a loose surface will step out immediately, so feel at the pedal is what you are paying for here. Before a mountain trip, look at the rear pads and at the fluid, since a rear brake that has been standing all winter is the one you find out about halfway down.

Fitment and Compatibility

At the back of the 2024 to 2026 F900GS Accossato lists the AGPP91, and the box holds exactly what that single rear caliper takes. The front of the same bike is covered by the AGPA92 shape, where two calipers mean two boxes; it makes sense to look at both ends of the machine at once, because a rear pad that is nearly through usually means the front has been working hard too. The DK006 disc is Accossato's entry for this model.

Road Approval

We have no German ABE and no test report for the AGPP91ST. In the absence of those papers, the pads are sold for competition and for use on closed circuits.

Scope of Delivery

Two Accossato AGPP91 pads in the Sintered (ST) material, packed as the set for the rear caliper of the F900GS.
