DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many Scrambler 1100 Special owners ride the way the bike looks: jeans, a waxed jacket, casual boots, sometimes even trainers. That relaxed kit brings a small risk that experienced riders know well. A loose lace, a wide trouser hem or a buckle catches on the footpeg just as the bike comes to a stop, the foot does not reach the ground in time, and the Special leans over at walking pace. Accossato lists its TP090 crash pads for the Scrambler 1100 Special of 2018 and 2019.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special, 2018 and 2019
- Accossato TP090, a pair per pack
- CNC-machined aluminium, according to Accossato
- Insert anodised in one of six colours
- Optional screw cover in the same colour
- Ask us before ordering whether drilling is required on your bike
- No German ABE on file; for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Each TP090 pad is cut from aluminium on CNC machines, and its visible insert is anodised in the colour you choose: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold. Accossato offers a screw cover in the same colour as an option, so the head of the fixing can disappear under a matching cap or remain visible. Two pads come in the pack. Their task on the Scrambler 1100 Special is to be the first thing that meets the ground in a tip-over, which can reduce the damage to the frame and the parts behind them.
Caught on the Footpeg
The problem is not the clothes themselves but what hangs from them. Tuck laces into the boot or choose boots that close with a zip or a flap, keep trouser hems narrow enough not to hook over the peg, and turn buckles and straps inwards. Riding boots with ankle protection are the safer choice anyway, and many now look casual enough for a café stop. As you come to a halt, decide early which foot will go down, usually the left, and move it off the peg before the bike stops rather than at the last moment. On a Scrambler 1100 Special, whose weight makes itself felt at walking pace, that half second is often the difference between a normal stop and a slow topple. If a lace does catch, do not fight the bike past the point where you can hold it; step away and let it go down. Afterwards, check the pads and the footpeg, and rethink the footwear.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the TP090 for the Scrambler 1100 Special from 2018 to 2019, and we have listed it that way. Accossato also points out that some motorcycles need holes drilled in the fairing for its crash pads, without naming them, so please ask us before you order whether that applies to your Scrambler 1100 Special. The PP018 rear axle sliders, listed for 2018, complete the protection. In our shop, the same pads are listed for the Scrambler 1100 Sport, the Scrambler Classic and the Hypermotard 950 SP.
Road Approval
We have not received any approval papers for the TP090, neither an ABE nor a test mark, and therefore sell the pads for racing purposes.
Scope of Delivery
