DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Shiver 750 GT added a half fairing and a screen to Aprilia's naked twin, and with them a different way of riding it: longer days, higher cruising speeds, less wind pressing against the chest. Without that pressure, the rider no longer has to hang on to the bars to stay put at speed, and the hands can relax. The Accossato EDF023 is a CNC-machined aluminium front brake lever for the Shiver 750 GT, listed from 2008 to 2016, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Aprilia Shiver 750 GT, 2008 to 2016
- Replaces the standard lever at the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable to the grip
- Standard length about 138 mm in every colour
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver
- Long blade in blue, gold, green or orange
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised; black hub, no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Rather than a casting, the EDF023 is a lever cut from solid aluminium by CNC machines and then anodised in two colours: the hub black, with its pivot and reach adjuster, and the blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. The anodised finish is a layer of the metal itself, so a touring glove resting on it for hours has no coating to wear through. The blade is rigid over its full length and has no folding joint.
Behind the Half Fairing
On a naked bike at motorway speed, the wind pushes the upper body back and the arms end up holding on, which tenses the forearms and dulls the fingers on the brake lever. The Shiver 750 GT's fairing takes much of that load away. With the chest out of the airflow, your arms can stay loose and your hands rest on the grips instead of clutching them, and a relaxed hand controls the brake far more finely than a tense one.
That relaxed hand wants the lever within easy reach. Set the EDF023 so your fingers can cover it without lifting the wrist, and the first touch of the brake after a long, fast stretch comes smoothly rather than as a sudden grab. For touring, many riders prefer to brake with three or four fingers, so the standard blade of about 138 mm, closest to the original, or the long blade in blue, gold, green or orange are the natural choices on the Shiver 750 GT. The short blade, made in blue, gold, green, orange and silver, is there for riders who stay with two fingers even on long trips.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF023 for the Shiver 750 GT from 2008 to 2016, mounted on the original front master cylinder. The matching clutch lever, the ESC023, is listed for this bike from 2009 to 2016, one year shorter at the start. The EDF023 also serves the standard Shiver 750 and other Aprilia twins of the period.
Road Approval
This brake lever has no documented ABE for German roads and is offered for track riding.
