DescriptionThe whole story

A supersport rider uses the front brake to set the bike's attitude, not simply to lose speed. That is the job of the N004: 75.0 by 55.3 mm of ceramic-sintered material, 8.0 mm deep, in the Nissin caliper. In EX Race form it is the compound a ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 rider can use from the first cold stop of the day.

Key Features

  • The N004 is one of 16 shapes ZCOO builds; this is the one your Nissin caliper takes
  • No proprietary tooling needed: the N004 drops into the Nissin caliper the ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 already has
  • No warm-up needed: the N004 works at the first cold stop of the day, which is why ZCOO sells EX Race for road as well as circuit use
  • A pad geometry drawn for this caliper family rather than shared across three of them, which is why the N004 fills its window
  • Tested and specified for the 2013 to 2026 model years of the Kawasaki ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636, not extrapolated from a neighbouring year
  • The N004 is dimensionally stable under the clamping load a Nissin caliper generates

Construction and Material Quality

ZCOO builds the N004 the same way whether it ends up on a ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 or on a race bike. A Nissin caliper spreads under peak line pressure, and a plate that yields with it moves the contact patch onto the pad's edges. Together they remove the two things that normally end a sintered pad, and the N004 is built against both: fade at the top of the range, and the friction layer lifting away.

Performance and Feel

Fitted to a ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636, EX Race changes how the brake behaves rather than how hard it stops. That band covers everything a ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 meets, from a cold first stop to a long descent. A ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 rider sets a braking marker once; the N004 is what lets them keep it.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 of 2013 to 2026 the N004 is the shape ZCOO lists. The N004 fits the front axle of the ZX-6R NINJA ABS 636 and nothing else. The same N004 shape covers 12 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 75.0 mm length and 55.3 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
