There is a reason a drop-in element never comes with a remap: it changes nothing the engine management was calibrated against. The airbox of a current Tuono V4 is a certified component with a fixed volume, fixed inlet ducts and a fixed panel aperture, and PM01S F1-85 replaces what sits in that aperture without altering any of it. That is the quiet virtue of a panel filter and also the limit of what one can promise. The machine leaves the workshop in the configuration it was approved in, and the honest claims are about material and maintenance rather than output.
Key Features
- Racing-grade dry polyester, filtration rated at 85 µm
- Rated flow of 15,000 l/m²/sec — the open end of the Sprint Filter media range
- Oil-free by design, so no dressing is required and none may be applied
- About twice the filtering area of a typical performance element in the same panel envelope
- Sits in the standard airbox in place of the factory element, with no modification to the housing
- Designed for the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Nothing upstream, nothing downstream
Because the housing, the ducts and the throttle bodies are untouched, the air path a 1077 V4 sees is the one its maps were written for. That is what makes a panel filter an unusually low-risk part to fit and an unusually modest one to describe. No power is added by an element in an unaltered airbox, on this machine or any other; what the material buys is a low resistance at the moment of fitting and the ability to return to it after every cleaning, rather than a slow climb ending in a bin.
Reading the two published numbers
Sprint Filter states 85 µm for this cloth against 80 µm for the standard weave, and in the same comparison it publishes retention of 95.22 per cent for the racing material against 93.13 per cent for the standard one, both measured on 100-micron particles. The pair does not line up the way the micron ratings alone would suggest, which is a useful reminder that a filtration figure only means something next to the test it came from. The dependable statement is the exchange itself: an open weave passes more air and holds back less of the fine fraction, and it is chosen when air volume and frequent servicing matter more than the last part of the retention curve.
Care and cleaning
Blow PM01S F1-85 out with compressed air from the clean face towards the dirty one. If the panel has taken on more than dust, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse it thoroughly and let it dry completely in circulating air. Heat of any kind is the one thing that ends this material early, so no gun, no radiator and no flame; the element is refitted dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet lives in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
