DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 036 A restores the S1000 XR's indicator load after a change to LED units.
Key Features
- BMW S1000 XR (2015–2019)
- Restores the indicator circuit load
- Stops the flash rate doubling
- Plugs into BMW's own connector
- For LED or removed indicators
- Standard units refit at any time
Mirror-Mounted at the Front
BMW integrates the front indicators into the mirror stalks on the XR, which is tidy and means a change at the front usually involves the mirrors as well.
A Superbike Engine in a Tall Chassis
A hundred and sixty-five horsepower with wide bars and long travel. Nothing else covers ground the way an XR does.
Ridden All Year
These accumulate serious mileage in every kind of weather, which is also why owners replace the original indicators with something more robust.
Reversible
The standard units refit and the eliminator unplugs, with nothing cut anywhere in the loom.
Twenty Litres and Three Hundred Kilometres
The tank is sized for the touring role rather than for a lap count, which is most of what makes the XR usable as a genuine long-distance motorcycle rather than a fast bike with a screen.
Bulb Failure by Current
BMW checks the draw on each side rather than watching the light. An empty circuit is a fault whether or not anything is actually broken.
Which One You Need
The bike decides, not the model year. BMW changed suppliers partway through several runs and both connectors appear on the same models.
Why Riders Fit These
Almost always after changing to LED indicators, because the hyper-flash that follows is the first thing anybody notices about the conversion.
The Job Takes Ten Minutes
Both connectors are reached with the seat off on most models, and the eliminators sit alongside the existing harness. It is one of the few electrical jobs on a modern motorcycle that needs no tools worth naming.
Cheap Compared With What It Fixes
The eliminator costs a fraction of a set of indicators and it is what makes them usable. Buying the lights and skipping this is a false economy that becomes obvious within about a minute of the first ride.
