The 890 Replaced
KTM took the LC8c to 947 cc for 2024 and built a new frame around it with a longer swingarm and revised electronics. The 990 Duke does not sit above the 890; it replaces it, and it is better in almost every measurable respect.
A Hundred and Twenty-Three Horsepower
More than the 890 Duke R made, in a bike positioned as the standard middleweight. KTM's habit of moving the class upward every few years continues, and the competition has largely stopped trying to follow.
Aligned Clamp Bolts
Both on a line square to the handlebar, matching KTM's factory master cylinder. On a model this recent the standard brake is usually still in place, which makes this the more likely of the two drillings.
A Thin Aftermarket
The 990 arrived in 2024 and very little exists for it yet. Components engineered for the bike rather than adapted from the 890, which uses a different loom, are the ones worth taking while the choice is narrow.
Nothing Above the Bar
A naked motorcycle gives its switchgear no shelter at all. Rain reaches the controls at road speed and stays, and the seam through a clipped moulded assembly is where it eventually causes an intermittent fault.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, titanium and orange, all converted into the surface. Orange is already present on KTM's frames and graphics, which makes the cockpit option a continuation rather than an intervention.
Milled From One Block
Ergal 7075 with sealed contacts. No clipped joint to develop play under the twin's uneven firing pulse and no moulded seam anywhere for water to work into over the years the bike will be kept.
