DescriptionThe whole story

The JP ES 007 clears the Vulcan 650 S's KLEEN valve out of service without a fault code following it.

Key Features

  • Kawasaki Vulcan 650 S (2015–2023)
  • Takes the secondary air solenoid out of the circuit
  • No warning on the instrument panel
  • Plugs into Kawasaki's own connector
  • Nothing cut, nothing spliced
  • Standard valve refits at any time

Sixty-One Horsepower

Detuned from the ER-6 for low-down torque, which suits the riding position and the intended use entirely.

Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Kilograms

Wet, which is light for a cruiser and the reason the Vulcan S is so much easier to ride than most of its rivals.

An Emulator, Not a Jumper

The unit returns the resistance the controller is looking for. A wire across the pins returns something else, and a different fault code is a worse outcome than the one it was meant to cure.

The Warning Returns

Clearing the code with a reader works until the next ignition cycle, when the self-test runs again and finds the same open circuit. Only answering it properly ends the cycle.

Soot Inside the Airbox

The signature of a cracked reed, which lets exhaust gas travel back up the hose. It coats the element and the box interior and is almost always found while looking for something else.

Fitted at the Same Time as the Rest

Most owners do this alongside a filter change or a tail tidy, because all of it is the same evening's work and the same bodywork.

Fuel Quality Is Irrelevant

Riders sometimes try different petrol before investigating the noise, which never helps. The reaction happens after combustion and no grade changes what is left to burn.

A Part With One Job

It presents a resistance. There is no software, no calibration and nothing that can drift out of specification over the life of the motorcycle.

Where the Time Actually Goes

Fifteen minutes to get the seat and tank off carefully, two minutes to swap the connector and fifteen to put everything back without trapping anything. The ratio is typical of work on a modern motorcycle and it is worth planning the evening around.
