DescriptionThe whole story▼

This bracket changes where the silencer sits. Akrapovic states it directly: with this optional mount fitted, the muffler ends up approximately 30 mm higher than before. That is not a side effect to discover after the fact — it changes ground clearance, lean angle and how the bike looks from behind.

Key Features

  • Raises the silencer by roughly 30 mm
  • Stainless steel, not aluminium or carbon
  • Needed once the passenger footrests are removed
  • For the Racing Line (Carbon) S-Y3R3-APC and S-Y3R1-APC
  • Covers thirteen model years of the MT-03 platform

Thirty Millimetres Up

Three centimetres is enough to matter on a small motorcycle. It buys lean angle on the right-hand side, which on a track-prepared R3 is worth having, and it lifts the silencer further from the ground on a bike that is often ridden hard by inexperienced riders.

It also changes the line of the tail. On a machine as compact as an R3 that is visible, and whether it looks better is a matter of taste rather than engineering.

Why It Is Needed at All

Yamaha hangs the silencer from the passenger footrest mount. Club racing regulations require those rests to be removed and most track day organisers ask for it, and the exhaust loses its support the moment they come off.

This bracket takes over that job — and takes the opportunity to move the silencer while doing it.

Stainless Steel Here

Akrapovic uses aluminium or carbon for most of its muffler brackets. This one is stainless steel, which is heavier and considerably tougher, and on an entry-level race bike that will be dropped by a novice more than once, that is a reasonable priority.

It also does not need painting or anodising to survive a winter, which matters on a motorcycle that is often a first bike as well as a race bike.

Which Racing Line

Akrapovic names S-Y3R3-APC and S-Y3R1-APC, both Racing Line (Carbon) systems. The first of those is in the current price list; the second is not. As with several accessories in this range, the description is written against the full historical catalogue.

If the exhaust on your bike is a different Akrapovic number, confirm the bracket with the distributor rather than assuming.

Thirteen Model Years

Yamaha built the MT-03, R3 and YZF-R25 on the same platform from 2014, restyled it for 2022 and kept the exhaust mounting arrangement. One bracket covers the entire run.

Optional, in One Configuration

An R3 with its pillion footrests still fitted does not need this. The Racing Line mounts to the standard hanger, and the silencer stays where Yamaha put it.

Road Approval

Not applicable. A bracket carries no emissions or noise approval, and the Racing Line it serves is a track system in any case.
