DescriptionThe whole story▼
Aprilia built the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2016, and a lot of them have changed hands since. A used Shiver is a common way into big naked twins, and many new owners begin with an oil change, so that the service history restarts from a point they know. That first service is also a chance to look closely at the oil filler cap, which previous owners may have treated gently or not. Accossato lists its FP001 for the Shiver 750, an oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised in eight colours and threaded M20x1.5.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Shiver 750, 2007 to 2016
- Thread size M20x1.5, according to Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised surface
- Eight colours: titanium, orange, black, silver, blue, red, gold, green
- Can be adapted to other bikes with the same cap size
- Accossato TS004 and TS013 reservoir caps listed for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Every FP001 starts as aluminium on a CNC machine and is anodised once it has been machined. The anodised layer holds the colour, and there are eight to choose from: titanium, orange, black, silver, blue, red, gold and green. The thread is M20x1.5. Beyond the models Accossato lists, the maker says the cap can be adapted to other motorcycles with a filler of that size, so the thread is the reference if you ever move it to another bike.
The First Oil Change as Its New Owner
With a second-hand Shiver 750 you rarely know exactly which oil is in the engine or when it went in. That alone is a good reason for a fresh start. Follow the owner's manual for the oil, the filter and the procedure, and let the engine cool before you open anything. When the original cap comes out, look at it and at the thread in the engine. A cap that is hard to turn or a thread with damaged flanks suggests someone has overtightened it in the past; if the engine thread is damaged, have a workshop look at it before fitting anything new. Clean the thread and the sealing surface, refill, and read the level as the manual describes. Then turn the FP001 in with your fingers until it sits firmly. Write the date and mileage in the service book, together with a note that the filler cap has been changed. After the first ride, a look at the engine around the filler shows whether it is dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the FP001 for the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2016. Thanks to its M20x1.5 thread, the same cap is also listed in our shop for the Shiver 900, the Dorsoduro 1200 and the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom. For the Shiver 750, Accossato also makes caps for both brake reservoirs, the TS004 at the front and the TS013 at the rear. If you are not sure whether your bike still has its original filler, compare the thread before ordering.
Road Approval
Accossato's FP001 is not accompanied by an ABE or test mark in our records, and we list it accordingly for racetrack and competition use.
