DescriptionThe whole story▼
Parking a Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid calls for a little care. With a battery and an electric motor on board, it is heavier than a conventional bike of similar size, and Kawasaki gives it a walk mode for moving it at walking pace. When you shuffle it into a space on a slope, the rear brake is what holds it. Accossato's DK271 is a fixed rear disc for the Ninja 7 Hybrid, listed for 2024: one piece of steel, 220 mm across and 5 mm thick.
Key Features
- Fixed rear disc for the Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid, 2024
- One-piece steel, from Accossato's fixed off-road range
- 220 mm outer and 100 mm inner diameter
- 5 mm thickness, three 10.5 mm holes on a 120 mm circle
- Replaces the original disc directly
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- Front disc for the same year: Accossato DK236
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
On a road motorcycle the rear brake carries a smaller share of the braking than the front, and a fixed disc is the usual answer there. Accossato's DK271 is such a disc: steel, as the supplier puts it, made as one part without rivets, and taken from the company's range of fixed discs for off-road bikes. It is 220 mm in diameter with a 100 mm inner opening and 5 mm thick, and it bolts on through three 10.5 mm holes on a 120 mm hole circle. Accossato says it is interchangeable with the disc Kawasaki fits to the Ninja 7 Hybrid, and it prints the minimum thickness on each disc it makes.
Moving a Heavier Bike About
Shuffling a motorcycle into a tight space is where many low-speed drops happen. Once a heavy bike leans past a certain point, no amount of leg strength will hold it. The safer method is to stay seated, keep the left foot down and the right foot over the pedal, and move the Ninja 7 Hybrid in small steps, letting the walk mode creep it forward and stopping each movement with the rear brake. Avoid the front brake while the bars are turned: it tips the bike towards the side you have steered to, and that is how many parking-speed falls begin.
On a slope, hold the bike on the rear brake with your right foot on the pedal and your left foot on the ground, and use the front lever only once the machine is upright and pointing straight. All of this relies on a rear brake that bites predictably under light pressure. If the pedal feels grabby at walking pace or pulses as the wheel turns, look at the rear disc for wear, grooves and runout, and measure it: a disc worn down to its printed minimum or showing cracks must be replaced.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK271 for the Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid for 2024, alongside the DK236 floating front disc for the same year. Before fitting, compare the new disc with the one on the bike, clean the mounting face of the hub and tighten the bolts to Kawasaki's specification. With the rear wheel out, it is worth checking the bearings for play.
Road Approval
For the DK271 there is no documented German ABE, and no type approval is known. We therefore supply it for use on the circuit.
