DescriptionThe whole story▼
Quarries draw hard-enduro riders for a reason. Old slate and granite workings offer steep faces, loose scree and ledges that no forest can match, and the Husqvarna TE 300 is one of the two-strokes people bring to such places. The ground is also merciless: stone edges are sharp, and a bike that falls lands on something that does not give. Accossato's B8283, a folding front brake lever for the TE 300 from 2014 to 2017, is machined from Ergal 7075 and has a joint that offers the blade a way out when it hits rock.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Husqvarna TE 300 two-stroke, 2014 to 2017
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Blade can fold forward in a fall thanks to Accossato's anti-break joint
- Short blade with a three-finger layout
- CNC-milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Dark base; blade in black, blue or orange
- One lever supplied
- No German ABE documented; off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
No aluminium is harder than granite, however strong the alloy, so in a quarry the design matters as much as the metal. The B8283 is milled on CNC machines in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, an alloy with very high strength for its weight, and Accossato's aims for it are strength, low weight and reliability. It is made in two parts, a dark base at the master cylinder pivot and a coloured blade joined to it by a hinge, so that the blade can yield rather than resist. The brake blade is short, for three fingers.
Stone That Does Not Give
In a quarry the fall itself is often slow. The bike stalls on a ledge, rolls back and tips over, or the front wheel drops off a step and the rider steps away as the machine lies down. What makes these falls costly is the surface. Broken slate has edges like a knife, and a lever that lands on one takes all the force along a narrow line. A solid blade tends to break exactly there, and the steep descents between the faces are the last place anyone wants to ride without a front brake.
The joint in the B8283 gives the blade another option: to fold forward along the stone rather than breaking across it. It is not immune, and a very sharp edge or a heavy impact can still bend or crack it. For riders who spend a whole day on scree and ledges, though, each fall that ends with a folded rather than a broken lever means one less walk back to the van. On a TE 300 ridden in such places, the front brake lever is the part on the right of the bar most worth protecting.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8283 for the Husqvarna TE 300 two-stroke of 2014 to 2017. It goes onto the standard front brake master cylinder, where it replaces the stock lever. Two clutch levers match it, depending on the year: the C7283 for 2014 to 2016, which Accossato also makes in red, and the C7284 for 2017. Later TE 300 model years are not covered by this brake lever.
Road Approval
The B8283 is not covered by a German ABE. A TE 300 may well be registered, but this lever is intended for off-road riding and competition and is not approved for public roads.
