Five kilos. That is what comes off a GSX-R 1000 when Spark's stainless collector and 350 mm Force silencer replace the standard system — and it is the quietest of the three racing combinations Spark builds for this collector.
Key Features
- Racing full system for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and GSX-R 1000 R, 2017 onwards.
- AISI 304 stainless steel collector, developed with World Endurance teams.
- Force silencer in titanium, 350 mm case.
- 99 dB at 5.000 rpm, 106,5 dB at 7.000 rpm.
- 5,4 kg against 10,4 kg standard: 5,0 kg saved.
- Fits with the original fairings, footpegs and radiator.
The Quiet One of the Three
Spark offers three silencers on this collector and states what each does on the meter. The Force at 350 mm is the one built to stay inside a 102 dB limit without a dB killer fitted; the Konix at 300 mm makes 107 dB, which is the figure many national championships work to; the MotoGP is described by Spark as the racing and extreme option.
If your riding is trackdays and club events with a phonometric check at the gate, this is the article that gets you through it.
Ten Kilos Becomes Five
The standard GSX-R 1000 exhaust weighs 10,4 kg — a litre superbike carries a great deal of catalytic converter and steel. Spark's system weighs 5,4. Almost half the mass of the exhaust disappears, and it goes from the rear and the underside of the motorcycle.
On a bike of this power the handling gain is real but secondary. The reason most owners fit it is that the standard system is enormous and the Spark one is not.
Endurance Racing Behind It
Spark says the development for this motorcycle rests on cooperation with World Endurance Championship teams and with national championship teams. The first stage of that work was a system for standard engines — this one — with the collector sized to make the stock motor breathe rather than to chase a tuned one.
Spark also builds a 2019 evolution developed with a British Superbike team for tuned and Superbike engines. That version can only be fitted with racing bodywork, which is worth knowing so that you do not order it by mistake.
The Standard Bodywork Stays
Spark states it explicitly: this system is compatible with the original footpegs, fairings and radiator. Nothing else on the motorcycle has to change, which separates it from the racing-fairing-only evolution and makes it the sensible choice for a road-registered bike used on track.
Track Use Only
Spark lists the system as not approved. There is no homologation certificate and no catalytic converter; it must not be fitted to a motorcycle ridden on public roads. The decibel figures relate to circuit regulations, not to road law.
Fitment & Compatibility
Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and GSX-R 1000 R, 2017 onwards. On the same collector, the MotoGP silencer is GSU8806T at 1.655 euro and the Konix Evo is GSU8808T at 1.762 euro. The full titanium versions are GSU8807T and GSU8809T.
Road Approval
None. Spark lists this system as not approved; it is built for closed-circuit use and must not be fitted to a motorcycle ridden on public roads.
