The L7 GSX-R 1000 brought variable valve timing from MotoGP to a production Suzuki. The JP PD SU011 replaces its right-hand switch with machined Ergal on a universal clamp pattern.

Ball Bearings and Centrifugal Force
Suzuki's variable valve timing on the L7 uses no electronics and no hydraulics. Twelve steel balls sit in angled channels in the intake cam sprocket, and as revs rise centrifugal force drives them outward, retarding the timing mechanically. It is a solution of remarkable simplicity on a bike otherwise full of electronics.
The Last of the Line, For Now
The L7 ran until Euro 5 ended it in 2021 without a direct replacement. That has made the generation something of a landmark: the final GSX-R 1000 of an unbroken run going back to 1985, and one that a good many owners have no intention of parting with.
Why the Right Cluster Ages
Starter, kill switch and mode selection all sit on this side, and on a bike often used at track days they are operated in the pit lane under time pressure, in gloves, repeatedly. Nothing fails; the buttons simply lose their edge, and the rider starts pressing harder without noticing.
Universal Because the Brake Changes
A GSX-R that sees circuit use very often gets a radial master cylinder, and the clamp bolt spacing differs from Suzuki's. The universal plate accepts both geometries so the switch does not have to be reconsidered when the brake is upgraded.
Four Anodised Finishes
Black, blue, red and titanium. Blue is the obvious choice on a bike in Suzuki's own MotoGP livery, where it picks up the fairing directly. Anodising runs through the surface, so a scuff does not leave bright aluminium showing.
