DescriptionThe whole story▼
The later Monster 821 with a complete left-hand control set, machined from Ergal 7075 in three anodised finishes.
Key Features
- Ducati Monster 821 (2018–2021)
- Complete street control set on the left
- Black, red or titanium anodising
- CNC-machined from Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
Where the Interface Lives
Ducati put the riding modes, the traction adjustment and the entire display menu on the left. On a motorcycle used daily, this block does several times the work of anything on the right side of the bar.
Contacts Enclosed
The elements sit inside the machined body rather than behind a snap-fit cover. On a bike with no bodywork whatsoever, that housing is the only barrier the electrics have against a wet road.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium, each converted into the top layer of the aluminium. The 821 has always been sold on personalisation as much as specification and the choice reflects that.
Cut From One Block
Ergal 7075, an aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a clamped bar component that is a structural choice rather than a decorative one.
Feel Through Winter Gloves
Thick leather removes most of what a switch communicates. Milled edges and honest travel give back enough that an input registers without needing to be confirmed by looking down at it.
The Factory Plug
Pre-wired to Ducati's own connector, nothing spliced. Two fasteners and one plug, and the harness stays exactly as it was assembled in Bologna.
A Second Restyle
Ducati reshaped the 821 again for 2018, bringing the tank and tail into line with the 1200. Underneath it remained the same motorcycle, which was no criticism at all.
Eight Hundred and Five Millimetres
The seat height on this generation, low enough to make the 821 genuinely approachable. It is one of the reasons the model reached riders who would never otherwise have looked at a Ducati.
The Engine Does Not Break
The 821 Testastretta has proved itself across a decade and a great many high-mileage examples. Whatever else ages on one of these motorcycles, it is not the bottom end.
