DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 009 replaces the Tuono V4 1100's rear brake light switch so nothing is reported with rearsets fitted.
Key Features
- Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 (2017–2020)
- Replaces the rear brake light switch in the circuit
- Nothing is reported on the instrument panel
- Plugs into Aprilia's own connector
- For rearsets with no switch position
- Standard switch refits at any time
The Switch
A plunger on the rear master cylinder, operated by the pedal. It reports rear brake use to the lamp and to the electronics that read it.
Why a Naked Bike Gets Rearsets
Ground clearance. The Tuono carries a superbike chassis and enough power that the standard pegs touch down long before the tyres complain.
An Open Circuit
Read as a fault, with a warning on the panel and a missing input downstream. Neither is acceptable on a bike being used seriously.
Answered Correctly
This unit supplies the expected state rather than leaving the connector empty. Nothing appears and nothing is stored.
Ten Seventy-Seven
Aprilia enlarged the Tuono's V4 in 2015 while leaving the superbike at a litre, chasing midrange rather than a peak figure. It worked.
A Comparison Test Regular
The Tuono has beaten machines with better specifications for years because it does the things that matter on a road better than they do.
One Connector
Aprilia's own plug with no adapters, fitted while the rearset is apart.
Nothing Spliced
The loom stays as the factory built it and the standard switch refits at any point.
Road Bikes Keep It
A rear brake light is not optional on a registered motorcycle.
Reversible
Unplug it, refit the standard master cylinder and switch.
Wide Bars, Superbike Frame
The Tuono has always been an RSV4 with the fairing removed and the ergonomics changed rather than a softened derivative built to a price. Nothing about the engine or the chassis is detuned and Aprilia has never been tempted to make it more sensible.
An Ageing Loom Deserves Care
These bikes are now old enough that harness connectors have seen a decade of weather, and a part that plugs in rather than splicing is worth considerably more than the price difference. Chasing an intermittent fault through a brittle harness is nobody's idea of a weekend.
