DescriptionThe whole story▼

Precision-engineered from high-grade stainless steel, the Arrow Racing mid-pipe 71630MI is a purpose-built track component for the Yamaha YZF-R1/M RN32. Constructed to withstand the extreme thermal and mechanical demands of race use, it pairs seamlessly with the original header and elevates the entire exhaust system's performance potential without compromise.

Key Features

  • High-grade stainless steel construction delivers outstanding heat resistance and long-term durability under sustained race conditions.
  • Retains the original header, reducing installation complexity and total system cost.
  • Compatible with both the stock slip-on silencer and Arrow slip-on series (e.g. 71829), giving you flexibility to build the system progressively.
  • Outlet diameter of 55 mm and inlet diameter of 53 mm, dimensioned for optimised exhaust flow and sharper throttle response.
  • Weighing just 1.43 kg, the mid-pipe contributes to a meaningful reduction in unsprung and overall exhaust system mass.
  • Developed specifically for track use — engineered to extract the full performance capability of the RN32 engine.

Build Quality and Materials

The 71630MI is fabricated from premium stainless steel throughout. Where lesser mid-pipes rely on thin-wall construction or substandard alloys, Arrow's racing division specifies material grades that maintain structural integrity at the elevated temperatures generated by the YZF-R1's inline-four on circuit. The result is a component that not only performs on day one but continues to do so across full race seasons without corrosion, deformation, or fatigue cracking at the joints.

Every junction is engineered for a precise, gas-tight fit. The 53 mm inlet connects cleanly to the original Yamaha header collector, while the 55 mm outlet mates directly with Arrow slip-on silencers or the factory can. No adapters, no compromises.

Performance and Track Use

The mid-pipe's internal geometry has been developed to smooth exhaust gas flow between the header and silencer, reducing back-pressure and sharpening throttle response across the rev range. Used as part of a full Arrow race exhaust build on the RN32, the gains become immediately perceptible — particularly in the mid-range and at the top-end where the YZF-R1 platform excels.

To unlock maximum performance and protect engine longevity after fitting, an ECU remap is strongly recommended. Arrow's own mapping solutions are developed in tandem with their exhaust components and represent the most effective way to take full advantage of the improved flow characteristics this mid-pipe provides.

Important Notice

This mid-pipe is approved for race use only. It is not road legal and carries no type approval for use on public roads. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure compliance with all applicable sporting and legal regulations.
