DescriptionThe whole story▼

No part of a motorcycle leads a worse life than the rear brake. It sits directly behind the rear tyre, which on a wet day fires water, grit and whatever else the road has to offer straight at it, and it is the brake most often called on when everything is already filthy. Accossato's Sintered (ST) material on the AGPP91 pad is a sensible answer for a BMW F 800 GT of 2013 to 2020 that is ridden through the seasons instead of being parked for the winter.

Key Features

  • Rear pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, ordered as AGPP91ST
  • Listed for the BMW F 800 GT from 2013 to 2020
  • Grip that Accossato describes as unchanged cold or hot, and unbothered by water
  • Chosen by riders who use the bike right through winter
  • One caliper at the rear, one box, two pads
  • The plate is also offered in OR and STMX form
  • Front wheel of the same machine: AGPA96, same years
  • No approval documents on file; competition and circuit use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's account of this material comes down to predictability. The level of grip it offers stays where it is whether the pad is cold at the start of a journey or hot at the foot of a long hill, and standing water does not rob it. For the rear of a touring machine that is the useful property, because the rear brake is asked for its small contribution in conditions that would be thought poor anywhere else on the bike. The plate is the common AGPP91 outline; the material on it is what you are actually buying. One box, two pads, one caliper.

Spray, Salt and the Brake Nobody Looks At

The rear caliper is the last thing anyone cleans and the first thing to seize. Salt in February, sand thrown up from a freshly dressed lane, a fortnight of rain: it all gathers around the piston and in the corners of the carrier, and the pad ends up working through a film of grit rather than against clean iron. Owners who ride an F 800 GT all winter usually fall into the habit of rinsing the back of the bike with plain water after a salty run and letting the brake dry before the machine is put away. When the pads next come out, the piston deserves cleaning before it is pushed back, and the carrier deserves a look for corrosion; both are short jobs that decide whether the new set wears evenly. A material untroubled by water is worth having back there, but it will still do a better job on a caliper that moves freely.

Fitment and Compatibility

The rear of the BMW F 800 GT from 2013 to 2020 is where the AGPP91 goes, matching the years Accossato gives for the front pad. One caliper at the back means one box is everything the bike needs. Change the pair together, and once the wheel is home, press the pedal several times before moving off so the piston comes out to meet the disc again. The same plate is offered in OR and STMX versions, the front takes the AGPA96 across the identical span, and the DK007 disc appears in the same catalogue entry for this bike.

Road Approval

Neither a German ABE nor any other approval paperwork exists in our records for the AGPP91ST. We therefore offer it for competition and closed-circuit riding only.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPP91 pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, packed as the set for the rear caliper.
