DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Triumph Sprint GT 1050 closed a chapter. Built from 2010, it was the last of a family of British sports tourers that had carried three-cylinder engines and hard luggage across Europe for years, and when it was dropped, Triumph did not replace it with anything quite like it. The machines that remain are looked after by owners who know exactly what they have. Accossato lists the Sprint GT 1050 for the FC101, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with a coloured pin.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Triumph Sprint GT 1050, 2010 to 2016
- Accossato files the model as Sprint 1050 GT
- Body machined from solid aluminium on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl for a fast stop
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl orderable on its own as a spare
- Match your bike against the application list first
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato takes solid aluminium, machines it on CNC equipment and offers the result as a robust, durable cap with a new design. The working part is the quick-closing pawl: it holds the cap down and releases it in one movement, which is what makes the Sprint's tank quick to open. The pin carried by the pawl is the piece you choose a colour for, with six on the list. Because Accossato sells that pawl separately, a damaged one is replaced by itself and the cap stays on the bike.
The End of a Long Line
Owning a model that was not replaced has a particular flavour. There is no newer version to feel jealous of, the used market is stable, and the community around the machine tends to be knowledgeable rather than fashionable. What such owners look for in a part is not novelty but availability: whether the thing can still be had in five years, and whether the piece that moves can be bought on its own. Both questions have sensible answers here. A rider who takes a Sprint GT 1050 to a circuit for a training day is usually doing so to enjoy the bike rather than to chase a lap time, and the practical side of the day, including refuelling between sessions without a fuss, is part of that enjoyment.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the machine appears as Sprint 1050 GT with the years 2010 to 2016, which this product covers. The FC101 is also catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Aprilia Shiver 900, the MV Agusta Brutale 675 and the KTM 690 Duke. Check your machine against the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are on record for this cap, so it is sold for closed circuits. The Sprint GT keeps its standard cap for public roads, which normally locks with the ignition key.
