DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Aprilia Shiver 750 has been around since 2007, and a naked V-twin with that many years on the market has had every kind of owner, including those who discovered track days on it. Riding a naked bike on a circuit is honest fun, but when it slides, there is little bodywork to hide behind, and a fall leaves its traces on the tank as well as on levers and pegs. This is the FC101 from Accossato, a quick-release fuel tank cap for the Shiver 750 of 2007 to 2018, machined from aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Aprilia Shiver 750, 2007 to 2018
- Made entirely from CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl opens and closes the tank quickly
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl replaceable on its own after damage
- New design by Accossato
- No German ABE documented; for track days and racing
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the whole cap from aluminium on CNC machines, which the company says makes it robust and durable, and the design is new. On the Shiver 750 the FC101 closes with a quick-closing pawl, so opening the tank and shutting it again takes only a moment. You choose that pawl in one of six colours. It deserves a mention of its own, because it is the moving part and the first thing to check after a fall, and Accossato offers it separately as a replacement.
Checking the Tank After a Fall
Many track-day falls are low-sides that end in the gravel, and most riders want to get back out as soon as the bike has been recovered. Before you do, give the tank a proper look. Check the sides for dents and for scrapes deep enough to reach bare metal, and look underneath for any damp patch or smell of fuel. Then turn to the top: in a fall the rider often slides across the tank, and knees, boots and even the helmet can hit it. Open and close the cap to be sure the pawl still works as it should and that the cap sits evenly. If the pawl has been bent or chipped, replace it before the next session. Any fuel leak, however small, means the Shiver 750 stays in the paddock until it has been fixed; fuel near a hot engine is not worth a single extra lap.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Shiver 750 appears on Accossato's list from 2007 to 2018 for the FC101, without being divided into versions. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also listed for the Shiver 900 and for the KTM 690 Duke R. Before ordering, match your bike against Accossato's application list.
Road Approval
The FC101 has no German ABE and no parts certificate on file; we supply it for the track. The Shiver's original cap typically locks with the ignition key, and on public roads it should stay where it is.
Scope of Delivery
