DescriptionThe whole story▼
Much of a Monster 821's life is spent parked: outside the office, in front of a café, between two cars at the supermarket. That last place is where a naked bike can be knocked over without its owner anywhere near. A driver reverses out of a space, looks over the shoulder for other cars and simply does not notice a slim motorcycle behind the tailgate. A gentle nudge is enough to push it over its side stand. Accossato's TP080 crash pads are listed for the Monster 821 of 2014 to 2018.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Monster 821, 2014 to 2018
- Accossato TP080, sold in pairs
- Aluminium, CNC-machined
- Anodised insert in blue, red, gold, black, silver or green
- Screw cover in the matching colour, optional
- Drilling the fairing is necessary on some bikes: ask us first
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The TP080 is a CNC-machined aluminium pad with an insert that is anodised in colour, and you choose from blue, red, gold, black, silver and green. A screw cover in the same colour can be added to hide the fixing. Two pads make up a pack. Fitted to the Monster 821, they are intended to be the first thing to touch the ground if the bike is knocked over, which can reduce the marks on the frame and on the components around the pads. They are designed to be expendable, so a pad that has taken a proper hit is replaced.
Where to Leave a Bike Among Cars
Car parks are designed for cars, and a motorcycle standing in a car space sits in a driver's blind spot as soon as the neighbouring car reverses. A few choices reduce the risk. Motorcycle bays, where they exist, are the obvious place. If you use a car space, park deep in it, well away from the aisle where reversing cars swing out, or choose a spot at the end of a row beside a kerb, a pillar or a planter that keeps cars away on one side. Leave the Monster 821 with its front wheel pointing out, so you can see the traffic when you leave, and in gear with the steering locked. Avoid spaces on a gradient, where a nudge more easily turns into a fall. If you come back to find the bike on its side, look for the driver or a note and take photographs, then walk round the bike and inspect the indicators, the lever ends and both pads before you ride away.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Monster 821, Accossato gives the TP080 with the years 2014 to 2018, and we have linked the pads to that period. Accossato adds that on some motorcycles the fairing has to be drilled before its crash pads can be fitted, but does not list which, so please check with us before ordering whether this concerns your Monster 821. The PF049 front axle sliders, listed from 2014 to 2021, and the PP084 rear sliders for 2018 and 2019 are available for the same bike. In our shop the TP080 is also listed for the Monster 1200, the Monster 1200 R and the Monster 1200 S.
Road Approval
No German ABE or other test certificate for the TP080 is available to us, and we therefore offer the pads for competition and the racetrack.
Scope of Delivery
