DescriptionThe whole story▼

Rain on a track day changes how an R6 is ridden more than almost anything else. Braking starts earlier, pressure builds more slowly, the front tyre is treated with caution, and the brake lever turns into a precision instrument. The Accossato LV022 is a folding brake lever with integrated adjuster for the original radial master cylinder of the R6, listed from 2017 to 2019. Its reach is adjustable, and its blade can fold at the joint with its black base.

Key Features

  • Folding brake lever with integrated adjuster for the Yamaha R6
  • Listed for 2017 to 2019
  • For the original radial brake master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable at the black base
  • Blade can fold at its joint

  • Black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium

Construction and Material Quality

The LV022 is anodised aluminium throughout, CNC-machined in two parts. A black base sits on the pivot of the radial master cylinder, and a blade in your chosen colour attaches to it through the joint that allows folding. Accossato describes the LV022 as having an integrated adjuster. Because we have no further details on it, we leave the description there rather than guess at what it does. The blade is made in the standard length and can be ordered with the RST cut-out or in the solid NRST form.

Wet Sessions and Careful Fingers

In the dry, a lever can feel acceptable even when it sits slightly too far out, because the braking is hard and short. In the wet, what counts is the first part of the lever travel, where the pressure is light and the grip of the tyre is being tested. That is when riders often notice that their fingers are working at an awkward angle. Before a wet session on the R6, sit on the bike in your rain gloves, which are often thicker than your usual pair, and check where your fingers meet the blade. Some riders bring the lever a little closer so they can feel the start of the braking more clearly; others leave it alone. There is no correct answer, only the setting that lets you build pressure gradually. A wet track also brings more slides and slow falls, and in those the folding blade can reduce the chance of a broken lever. When the track dries, go back to your usual setting, or note both positions so that switching next time takes seconds.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the LV022 for the R6 from 2017 to 2019, as YZF 600 R6, and names the original radial master cylinder. The LV020 is listed for the same years. Earlier R6 generations are not part of this listing, so check the model year before you order.

Road Approval

The LV022 is intended for the track, as no German ABE has been recorded for it.
