Nobody buys a Rebel to shorten a journey. The CMX300 is bought for the road that goes the long way round — the river lane, the ridge road, the string of bends a satnav would happily route you around. Those roads have something in common beyond the view: sweeping, resurfacing and verge repair follow traffic volume, so the quieter and prettier the route, the longer grit, field spill and loose material from the shoulder stay where they fell. The air above such a road is not the air above a trunk road, and the intake takes its share of whatever is hanging in it. The PM241P14 is Sprint Filter's answer to that kind of air: a fine dry non-woven medium sized for the standard Rebel airbox.
Key Features
- Dry non-woven medium that never sees oil, so nothing can migrate from it towards the throttle bodies and sensors behind it
- Filtration rated at 14 microns, against a flow figure of 1,800 litres per square metre per second
- Roughly twice the working medium other performance elements bring — the reason a fine mat can sit in a standard housing at all
- Takes the place of the paper cartridge in the series airbox; nothing is cut and the fuelling map is left alone
- Regenerated with compressed air and put back in, rather than bought again at every service
- Built by Sprint Filter to last as long as the motorcycle carrying it, with two years of cover running from the purchase date
The route picks the medium, not the model name
The standard weave for this same airbox is rated at 80 microns and 5,050 litres per square metre per second. The P14 in this element is specified for particles far smaller than that and gives up most of the flow figure in exchange. It is a trade, not a step up a ladder — finer material holds back more and passes less, and the right question is which half of that trade you have a use for. On the smaller Rebel the answer is unusually clear.
When the standard weave is the better buy
Honesty is cheaper than a return. If your Rebel spends its life on swept main roads, motorway slip roads and daily town runs, and you would rather keep the widest flow margin the housing can hold, the P08 version of this element is the more sensible order — same airbox, same fit, catalogued under PM241S.
Care and cleaning
Servicing the PM241P14 is a dry job. Set an air line against the clean face and push the dirt back out the way it came in, working from the inside outwards. Once or twice a season, or after a dusty stretch, wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry in open air only — no hairdryer, heat gun or flame anywhere near it — and refit it dry right through. The maintenance sheet is filed under the Downloads tab.

For the Honda CMX300 Rebel, model years 2017 to 2026. Two motorcycles are covered by this element in total, the CMX500 Rebel of the same period being the second; both are listed in the Fitment tab.
