Sprint Filter P08 F1-85 Air Filter for Racing – Voge Trofeo AC (2022–2026) PM250S F1-85

Two numbers define this medium and they run on different clocks. The 15,000 litres per square metre per second are drawn on only with the throttle wide open and the engine high in its range — on a road-ridden 350, a few seconds in an afternoon if it happens at all. The 85-micron aperture is open every minute the engine turns. Fitting PM250S F1-85 means paying for the first figure and living with the second.

Seconds against hours

An airflow rating describes what a square metre of clean material passes under test, and it matters only in the state that asks for it: full throttle, high revs. Filtration works on the opposite schedule. Everything between 80 and 85 microns that the standard weave would have stopped goes past this one — at idle, in traffic, on the motorway. That asymmetry is why a racing medium is bought for a context rather than for a motorcycle. By Sprint Filter's own account this is the most widely used air filter in MotoGP, Moto3, World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock — a statement about where it is used, not a measurement of what it does on a road-registered 350.

Where it makes sense on this machine

Three conditions, plainly. The Trofeo AC is run in closed-course sessions rather than commuting; the airbox is opened and the element checked between outings, because the shorter interval compensates for the wider aperture; and the standard panel is kept, labelled and dry, so the machine goes back to road specification in minutes. Where all three hold, the purchase is coherent. Where they do not, the standard weave is the better element. In no case does an insert filter make a standard 350 noticeably stronger — what these media offer is a low intake restriction that stays low because the panel is cleaned back to it, and a part serviced instead of bought again.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean side outward is the routine, so the load leaves the weave the way it came in. Lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a rinse handle what air leaves behind. Drying happens in moving air at room temperature, never with a radiator, a hot air gun or a flame, and the element is refitted completely dry — a damp weave gives away the flow it was bought for.
