DescriptionThe whole story▼
Born from Puig's Barcelona design studio and shaped by genuine aerodynamic engineering, the Naked Frontal Winglets for the 2026 KTM 990 Duke R bring a purposeful, track-inspired edge to one of the most exciting naked bikes of the decade. The matte black ABS finish strikes a balance between aggression and refinement, while the underlying aero geometry does measurable work every time you open the throttle.
Key Features
- Generates almost 2 kg of downforce on the front wheel, translating directly into greater composure under hard braking and a natural anti-wheelie effect
- Anti-shimmie geometry stabilises the front end at high speed, reducing the nervous feedback that plagues naked bikes on fast straights
- Improves directional stability when changing lines, giving you more confidence mid-corner
- Channels air directly to the radiator for improved thermal management
- Precision-moulded in 3 mm thick matte black ABS — a material engineered for high impact resistance and long-term finish durability
- Secured via a 3 mm steel bracket; no specialist mechanical knowledge required for fitment
- Holds ABE homologation KBA 31948 W.NAKED FRONTAL, meeting German TÜV quality standards — road-legal confidence from day one
Design, Finish and Heritage
Puig has been designing aerodynamic add-on parts in Barcelona for decades, and that accumulated expertise is visible in every surface of these winglets. The matte black ABS shell is not simply a cosmetic afterthought — the 3 mm wall thickness ensures the panels absorb road vibration and minor impacts without cracking or distorting, while the restrained finish avoids the over-styled look that dates so many aftermarket spoilers. On the 990 Duke R, whose sharp KTM bodywork already carries an assertive personality, the Naked Frontal Winglets read as an extension of the factory design language rather than a bolt-on addition.
Aerodynamic Performance
The winglet profile is the product of a dedicated aerodynamic study, documentation for which ships with every set. By directing oncoming airflow around and beneath the frontal area, the spoiler generates close to 2 kg of downforce at the front axle — a meaningful figure on a naked motorcycle where aerodynamic grip is otherwise almost entirely absent. The result is a front end that pushes into the tarmac under braking rather than floating, and a straight-line stability that lets you carry speed with less physical effort. The anti-shimmie effect is particularly valuable on long motorway stretches and during track days where the 990 Duke R's power delivery can otherwise excite the front wheel.
Installation
The winglets mount to the motorcycle via a 3 mm metal support bracket. The process is described in the step-by-step instructions included with the product, and a companion video walks through each stage visually. No specialist workshop tools or advanced mechanical knowledge are required. An aerodynamic study document is also included, detailing the engineering rationale behind the spoiler's shape and the real-world benefits you can expect.
Please review the ABE homologation document carefully before fitting to confirm suitability for your specific motorcycle configuration.
