Key Features
- Dimension A 32.2 mm
- Öhlins part number 15438-01
- Dimension B 36.5 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
Where It Sits
At 32.2 mm, 36.5 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once. Sealing washers are consumables — they take their shape on first assembly. Retaining rings come in a groove-specific thickness — the next size does not hold.
Genuine Service Part
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.
Identifying the Right Part
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 15438-01 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Check dimension a 32.2 mm, dimension b 36.5 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Circlips are single-use in practice: once sprung, they no longer hold their groove reliably. Öhlins lists these individually because a service usually needs a handful of them.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
