Key Features

  • Free length 200 mm
  • Powder-coated yellow
  • Öhlins part number 60360-07
  • Inner diameter 46 mm
  • Measured spring rate 25-35 N/mm

How Öhlins Makes Them

Production has stayed in Sweden since the company was founded in 1976. Rates are offered in defined steps, so a change can be made in one direction at a time. Seals are specified for temperature stability rather than for the lowest unit cost.

Size and Rate

Öhlins holds the free length at 200 mm and the inner diameter at 46 mm across this rate range, so moving up or down a rate changes nothing about the installation.

What the Rear Spring Decides

Rear spring rates run in the tens or hundreds of N/mm because the spring sits at the short end of that lever, not at the wheel. Two riders 20 kg apart on the same motorcycle genuinely need different rates, not different clicks. Öhlins supplies most of its shocks without a spring precisely so the rate can be matched to the rider rather than averaged.

Applications

This spring is chosen by its dimensions rather than by motorcycle model: check inner diameter, free length and rate against the fork it is going into. Rather than a model list, use the measurements: a fork that accepts this diameter and length is a candidate, and the rate follows from rider weight. Sag figures, not feel, decide whether a rate is right. Öhlins publishes the targets for its own units.

Fitting

Springs are supplied ready to fit; no cutting, grinding or packing is needed. Fork oil should be replaced at the same time — it is already out of the leg. A spring that is the correct length still needs the preload spacer checked, since installed length is what sets sag.

Road Approval

Road approval: not applicable to the spring on its own. Öhlins issues approvals against complete suspension units, not individual springs.

Fitting and Setup Service

This is not a part to rush. Öhlins recommends installation by an authorised service centre, and we are an authorised Öhlins service centre — fitting, servicing and setup all happen here. Get in touch if you would like the work done with the order.
