DescriptionThe whole story▼

Öhlins part number 60360-01 is a shock absorber spring rated at 11-15 N/mm, 200 mm long with a 46 mm inner diameter. The damper can only control the spring it is given; the wrong rate makes every click a compromise.

Key Features

  • Free length 200 mm
  • 130 mm of usable stroke
  • Powder-coated yellow
  • Progressively wound
  • Inner diameter 46 mm
  • Öhlins part number 60360-01
  • Measured spring rate 11-15 N/mm (progressive)

How Öhlins Makes Them

Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. The finish is applied after setting, which means the coating does not affect the rate. The wire is progressively wound where the application calls for it and straight where it does not.

The Numbers That Matter

Free length 200 mm, inner diameter 46 mm, rate 11-15 N/mm — those three figures define the part completely.

Rate and the Linkage

Rear spring rate sets ride height and static sag, and those two decide the chassis attitude before any damping click matters. Two riders 20 kg apart on the same motorcycle genuinely need different rates, not different clicks. Öhlins sells rear springs separately precisely because rider weight varies more than machine weight does.

Applications

Where Öhlins lists this size against a particular unit, the listing is a starting point rather than a boundary. If you are replacing a sagged original, measure its free length first — a tired spring often measures several millimetres short. Rather than a model list, use the measurements: a fork that accepts this diameter and length is a candidate, and the rate follows from rider weight.

Fitting

Rate and preload are separate adjustments: get the rate right first, then set sag with preload. Note the original oil level before draining — it is a useful reference even when Öhlins specifies its own. Springs are supplied ready to fit; no cutting, grinding or packing is needed.

Road Approval

Road approval: none is issued for springs as such — they replace an existing component of the same function. Any model-specific approval is listed under Applications.

Fitting and Setup Service

This is not a part to rush. Öhlins recommends installation by an authorised service centre, and we are an authorised Öhlins service centre — fitting, servicing and setup all happen here. Get in touch if you would like the work done with the order.
