Key Features

- Öhlins part number 06229-20
- Original Öhlins service part
- Outer Diameter 21 mm
What It Is
06229-20 is the 46.2 mm, 21 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Replacing the head as a unit is usually faster and more reliable than fitting the seals individually. Seals harden with heat and age even when the machine has not been ridden much. Nitrile, Viton and PTFE behave differently with temperature, and Öhlins picks per position.
Genuine Service Part
This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 06229-20. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. inner diameter 46.2 mm, outer diameter 21 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Seals are the part of a damper that decides whether it holds its gas charge and its oil, and they are the usual reason a unit ends up on the bench. Seal kits gather the pieces one rebuild needs, which avoids a second order mid-job.
Fitting and Setup Service
If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
