Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Dimension B 22 mm

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 15406-02

Dimension A 6 mm

Where It Sits

6 mm, 22 mm: that is the whole specification, and it has to match what came out. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil through its ports. Port area and shim seat geometry decide the damping curve before any adjuster is touched.

Why the Original

Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Öhlins supports its suspension with individual service parts, which is why a fifteen-year-old damper can still be rebuilt to specification. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 15406-02. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. The published dimensions are dimension a 6 mm, dimension b 22 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Port area and shim seat geometry decide the damping curve before any adjuster is touched. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil through its ports.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 15406-02

Category: Pistons

Dimension A: 6 mm

Dimension B: 22 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/15406-02_96e31ca2-f424-44b5-acea-a7aa055d7d6a.png?v=1788878671
