DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every workshop has seen a Panigale V4 with a scored fork bottom from a standstill fall. LighTech's WAPDU410 pairs a screen-printed nylon shell with a coloured Ergal core and weighs 230 g. It is offered in 2 colours: Black, Red. It is cheaper than the smallest part it is there to save on a Panigale V4.
Key Features
- Colour choice does not affect the fit of the WAPDU410 on the Panigale V4
- CNC-machined rather than cast, so the WAPDU410 mating faces stay true on the Panigale V4
- The insert changes without pulling the axle out of the Panigale V4
- Designed around the Panigale V4 specifically rather than adapted from another model
- Front and rear of the Panigale V4 are both covered by the single WAPDU410 kit
- Black, Red — one WAPDU410 kit, 2 ways to match the Panigale V4
- The WAPDU410 costs less than the smallest part it defends on a Panigale V4
Materials and Construction
Nylon forms the outside of the WAPDU410; the material is elastic enough to take repeated knocks. An Ergal core gives the WAPDU410 its structure while the nylon gives it its give. LighTech sells the coloured inner part in pairs, so the WAPDU410 is a serviceable assembly.
Compatibility and Installation
LighTech's fitment for the WAPDU410 is the Ducati Panigale V4 across 2024 to 2026. It uses the mounting points the Panigale V4 already carries, so nothing is drilled or fabricated.
How Axle Protection Works
The principle is simple and the execution is not: stand proud, give way, stay attached. On the WAPDU410 the Ergal core takes the load path while the nylon takes the abrasion. The result weighs 230 g and can be rebuilt with a new insert after a fall.
Installation
Everything the Panigale V4 installation needs comes with the WAPDU410. Check the clearance to Panigale V4 bodywork once fitted — spacers are included precisely for that. The WAPDU410 comes in 2 finishes — Black, Red — and the colour makes no difference to the fit on the Panigale V4.
What Is in the Box
One WAPDU410 box covers both ends of the Panigale V4 — there is no separate front or rear part number. The packaging lists the WAPDU410 reference, so a second order for the same Panigale V4 is unambiguous.
Road Approval
Nothing in the WAPDU410 box constitutes a type approval, and we do not imply one. A protector fitted outside the outline of the Panigale V4 is something a German inspector may question. Settle that with your inspection body first. On track it is not an issue.
