DescriptionThe whole story

Born on the grids of the British Superbike Championship and proven at the Isle of Man TT, the K-Tech TRDS-R is the race shock absorber that brings championship-level suspension engineering within reach of privateer teams and budget-conscious competitors. Its clean, containerless silhouette and precisely machined body are a statement of intent before a single adjustment is made.

Key Features

  • Through-Rod Damping System (TRDS) technology delivers exceptionally precise, consistent damping force across the full stroke — a design philosophy refined at the highest levels of British motorcycle racing.
  • The 'R' in TRDS-R stands for Regulation: the unit is engineered to perform within current racing cost-cap and technical regulations, making elite suspension performance accessible without factory-level sponsorship.
  • Compact, reservoir-free design saves weight and improves packaging, making it one of the lightest race shocks in its class.
  • Revised internal composition and enhanced heat dissipation ensure damping characteristics remain stable and repeatable throughout extended race stints, even under sustained high-load conditions.
  • 18-click compression and 18-click rebound adjustment (suggested baseline) give engineers granular control over chassis behaviour, with 4.00 mm of total RCU adjustment travel available.
  • Recommended installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre ensures the unit is set up correctly for your specific application from the outset.

Design, Finish and Heritage

K-Tech's manufacturing heritage is woven into every detail of the TRDS-R. The unit carries the unmistakable aesthetic of a serious race component — no external reservoir to clutter the subframe area, no unnecessary hardware. The machined aluminium body and precision-ground 14 mm rod reflect the same standards that have seen K-Tech dampers carried to wins in BSB and across the Mountain Course at the TT. This is suspension hardware with a pedigree you can see as well as feel.

Through-Rod Technology Explained

Traditional monotube shock absorbers rely on a solid piston rod, which creates an imbalance between compression and rebound damping forces. K-Tech's Through-Rod design runs the rod completely through the damper body, equalising pressure on both sides of the piston. The result is a damping response that is more linear, more predictable, and far easier for a technician to fine-tune — a genuine advantage when chasing lap times with limited testing time.
