DescriptionThe whole story▼
The K-Tech DDS Lite is a precision-engineered rear shock absorber built specifically for the Yamaha YZF-R1/M in RN32, RN49 and RN65 guise, covering the full 2015–2026 production run. Sharing the same core DDS components as the flagship Pro version, it delivers four-way adjustability and genuine K-Tech performance at a more accessible price point — with a clear upgrade path to Pro specification whenever you are ready.
Key Features
- Four-way adjustability — compression, rebound, manual preload and length — gives precise control over chassis geometry and ride character on road or track
- 32 clicks of compression damping adjustment for fine-grained tuning across a wide range of riding conditions
- 32 clicks of rebound damping adjustment to maintain optimal tyre contact and stability under braking and corner exit
- Manual spring preload adjustment lets you dial the shock to your exact weight and riding style without specialist tools for every-day changes
- Length adjustment enables fine-tuning of ride height and steering geometry to suit track configuration or personal preference
- CNC-machined components throughout for exceptional dimensional accuracy, rigidity and long service life
- DDS technology with integrated potentiometer mounting points — fully upgrade-compatible from Lite to Pro specification at any time
Performance Without Compromise
The DDS (Dual Damping System) architecture at the heart of this shock has been proven across K-Tech's range from club racing to World Superbike paddocks. The Lite variant omits the hydraulic preload adjuster and the dedicated bypass valve found on the Pro, but the fundamental damping quality, the 35 mm body diameter and the 12 mm shaft remain identical. If your riding evolves, upgrading to Pro spec requires no new shock — the internals can be rebuilt to full Pro specification by any authorised K-Tech Service Centre.
The 62 mm stroke and 318 mm overall length (tolerance –3/+3 mm) are matched precisely to the R1 and R1M linkage geometry across all three chassis codes, so the shock installs without modification and puts the suspension in the correct operating window from the first ride.
Recommended Setup Baseline
K-Tech engineers have established a starting-point configuration for this application: 12 clicks compression, 12 clicks rebound and 12 mm preload. These values keep the shock operating in the middle of its adjustment range, giving equal scope to soften or firm the damping as conditions demand. A wide selection of spring rates from the 55–155 series is available to match rider weight correctly before any fine-tuning begins.
Installation Note
For maximum safety and to realise the full performance potential of this shock, K-Tech recommend fitting by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Installation requires specialist tools and techniques.
