DescriptionThe whole story▼
The sport left switch for an R1 running an I2M dashboard. One part number spans more than twenty model years.
Key Features
- Yamaha R1 (2004–2025)
- Requires an I2M dashboard
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Racing loom required
- Sport control set
Twenty-One Model Years
The fitment covers the R1 from 2004 to the end of European road sales. That includes the pre-crossplane bikes, the 2009 machine that introduced the uneven firing order and the 2015 redesign. They have almost nothing in common mechanically.
Defined by the Dashboard
The breadth is possible because the switch answers to I2M rather than to Yamaha. Where a standard cluster must match the motorcycle's connector and button map, this one matches the logger, and I2M kept its interface stable while the R1 changed three times.
The Sport Control Set
Between the road cluster and the fully stripped superbike arrangement. It suits a machine used for track days rather than championships, where the rider wants data and a clean cockpit without removing every trace of road equipment.
A Racing Loom Regardless
Yamaha's standard harness will not drive this switch. The I2M dashboard has to be fitted and configured first, and that installation is considerably more work than changing the switch itself.
Old R1s on Circuits
A 2007 R1 costs very little now and remains quick enough to enjoy. Adding a data system to one is often the first serious modification, because the bike itself tells the rider nothing at all.
A Cross-Brand Number
JP SPS 003 appears under several manufacturers in this catalogue for the same reason. The fitment list says which motorcycles the wiring has actually been verified against, and it is worth reading rather than assuming.
Sealed and Milled
Ergal 7075 from solid with sealed contacts. On a bike this age the original assembly has hardened and gone vague, and the replacement is chosen for feel as much as for durability.
