DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ACCGP DU020 fits the Monster 1200 S with the GP Series' three-stage external preload and 60-degree stroke, giving an S model already set apart from the base Monster by its suspension and finish a throttle response that can be tuned to suit road riding or the occasional track outing.
Key Features
- Ducati Monster 1200 S (2017–2021)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
The S Treatment
The 1200 S distinguishes itself from the base Monster mainly through its suspension and detailing rather than a different engine, aimed at riders who want the same naked character with sharper responses underneath them. A throttle that can be adjusted to suit the occasion fits that same philosophy of refinement rather than wholesale change.
Mixed-Use Riding
Owners of the S tend to use it for everything from the daily ride to work through to the occasional weekend spent chasing a more demanding road or circuit, rather than committing fully to one or the other. A throttle preload that can be shifted between three stages suits that back-and-forth better than one fixed setting ever could.
Setting the Resistance by Hand
Adjusting the GP Series' preload does not require opening the throttle body or disturbing the cable run; the three stages are accessed from outside the housing with the part still fitted to the bike. On a bike that changes role from one ride to the next, being able to make that change in minutes matters.
Where the Wrist Settles
A shorter stroke to reach full throttle means less rotation is asked of the wrist on every input, which adds up over a long ride in a way that is easy to underestimate until it is removed. Riders coming off the standard Monster throttle usually notice the difference within the first few corners.
Switches and Mirrors, Untouched
Fitting the GP Series as designed for this model leaves the handlebar switches, mirrors and grip in their factory positions, since the kit is built around the existing cable run rather than replacing it wholesale. There is no relearning where a horn button or an indicator switch sits.
Keeping the Option Open
Riders who are not yet certain whether they want to keep the shorter stroke permanently can fit the GP Series knowing the factory throttle can go back on with no trace of the change left on the cable run. The reversibility matters as much to some owners as the performance does.
