DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Monster 1200 R was built as the sharpest version of the naked, and the JP ACCGP DU020 carries the GP Series' milled Ergal body and 60-degree stroke onto it, giving a bike already aimed at the track a throttle stroke short enough to match the rest of its chassis.

Key Features

  • Ducati Monster 1200 R (2016–2019)
  • GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
  • Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
  • CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
  • Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
  • Standard throttle assembly refits at any time

The Track-Bred Monster

The 1200 R was the version of the Monster built with the superbike-derived chassis and firmer suspension settings, aimed at riders who wanted the naked's attitude with a sharper edge underneath it. A throttle originally designed with a long cable-pull stroke sits oddly on a bike otherwise tuned for quick, decisive inputs.

Riding Position for Commitment

The R's riding position leans the rider further forward than the standard Monster, loading more weight onto the wrists through fast direction changes and hard braking into corners. A shorter throttle rotation asks less twisting motion from a wrist that is already carrying more of the rider's weight in that posture.

One Block of Ergal

Rather than a cast or stamped housing, the GP Series lever is machined from a single billet of 7075 aluminium, which is the standard the whole range is built to. On a bike built around the idea that every component should earn its place, that solid machining fits the R's own philosophy more than a cast substitute would.

Sixty Degrees, Not the Full Twist

Cutting the rotation needed to reach full throttle from the long stroke of the stock cable setup down to 60 degrees shortens the distance the hand has to cover without changing how the throttle feels opening, which stays close to the familiar cable pull. On the R, that shorter stroke suits a chassis that rewards quick, decisive inputs.

Switchgear Left Alone

Because the GP Series is designed as a plug and play fitment for this specific model, the existing handlebar switches, mirrors and grips stay exactly where the factory put them. Nothing about the installation asks the rider to relearn where a switch sits or how far a lever reaches.

Back to Stock, If Needed

The R is sometimes kept closer to its original specification for resale or collector reasons even by riders who want sharper response day to day. The GP Series throttle is designed to be removed as easily as it was fitted, leaving the factory cable run ready to take the standard grip back.
