This is the small piece that finishes the job. It is the forward section of the tail unit, the part shaped like a shallow W that reaches from the rider's seat towards the tank and closes the gap either side of the frame. On its own it is unremarkable; on a motorcycle whose tail is already carbon it is the difference between a finished conversion and an obvious one.

Buy It With the Tail, Not After It
Two reasons. The first is optical: panels moulded in the same run share a weave alignment, and a mismatch between two adjacent carbon surfaces is more visible than a mismatch between carbon and paint. The second is that fitting both at once takes one afternoon rather than two.
Ordered alone, this part still works as a repair for a broken original, and at this price that is a reasonable thing to do on its own terms.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW S1000R, model years 2013 to 2020, on the original fixings. It is designed around the Fullsix Double Seat Strada tail and also seats on the standard tail unit. The 2021 machine has a different rear structure and takes other parts.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Treat it as replacement body trim and confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
Where the Knee Goes
On a roadster the rider sits further forward than on a supersport, and under hard acceleration the inside of the thigh presses against exactly this panel rather than against the tank. Matt is the defensible choice for that reason alone: textile trousers polish clear coat over a season, and the wear pattern appears where nobody wants to see it.
