DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a faired motorcycle the front mudguard is glimpsed below the fairing line. On the S1000R there is no fairing line: the guard stands alone between the fork legs with nothing above it and nothing beside it, and from the saddle the rider looks straight down onto it at every set of traffic lights.

Key Features

  • Front mudguard, direct replacement on the standard fork brackets
  • 245 Twill weave in clear coat, matt, raw or twill satin
  • Autoclave-cured laminate, rigid across the unsupported span ahead of the wheel
  • Original fasteners and brackets, no drilling and no spacers
  • The widest finish choice of any panel on this motorcycle

Seen From Above, Not From the Side

The upright riding position changes which surface of this part matters. On a supersport the guard is seen in profile by other people; on a roadster the rider looks down at its top face for hours.

That shifts the finish decision. A top face in clear coat throws sunlight back at the rider in the same way a gloss instrument surround does, which is a real annoyance on a long straight road. It is the one argument for matt that nobody mentions in a shop.

Fitment and Compatibility

BMW S1000R, model years 2021 to 2026, on the original fork brackets. The 2013-2020 machines use a different guard. Aftermarket forks should have the bracket spacing checked before ordering.

Road Approval

Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Treat it as a replacement body panel and confirm the position for your own registration before road use.

Four Finishes on a Stone-Struck Panel

This article is one of the few offered in twill satin as well as the usual three, which is useful here: satin holds some depth without the gloss that turns every stone chip into a bright mark.

Clear coat is the showroom answer and will record its first impact within a season on a motorcycle used year-round. Matt absorbs the same damage almost invisibly. Raw has no lacquer to chip at all and is the least expensive, which on the most exposed panel on the bike is an unusually easy recommendation.
