DescriptionThe whole story▼

1.44 kilograms. That is what is left of a 4.09 kg standard silencer once Akrapovic has replaced it — 64.8 per cent gone, and the largest proportional weight saving of any slip-on in this catalogue.

Key Features

  • 1.44 kg against the standard 4.09 kg: 2.65 kg and 64.8 per cent less
  • Handmade carbon fibre outer sleeve and end cap
  • Stainless steel link pipe and muffler inner structure
  • 48.7 PS, up from 45.8 PS
  • Short muffler with a racing look
  • Designed for closed-course competition use

Read the Torque Figures Carefully

Akrapovic records a gain of 2.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm, and at the same time a peak torque of 35.7 Nm against the standard 35.9 Nm. Both numbers are theirs, and they do not contradict each other: the curve rises in the middle and gives up two tenths of a newton metre at its highest point.

We are not going to describe that as a torque increase without qualification. What the exhaust does is fill in at four thousand revs, which on a 449 cc twin is worth more than a peak two tenths higher.

Throttle Response Was the Goal

Akrapovic states that the engineers' aim during development was the best possible throttle response, alongside aesthetics, sound and weight. That ordering is unusual — most of these descriptions lead with power — and it fits what the numbers show.

Competition Use

This exhaust is designed for use on closed-course competition motorcycles. It has no road approval. The 450 SR is a road-registered machine in Europe, so this is a part for track work rather than a road upgrade.

Handmade Carbon

Akrapovic specifies the carbon sleeve and end cap as handmade, over a stainless steel link pipe and internal structure. That combination is why the part survives track use: the visible carbon does the weight saving, and the steel underneath does the work.

Akrapovic Building for CFMOTO

Ten years ago a Slovenian exhaust maker with a MotoGP record would not have catalogued a part for a Chinese manufacturer. That it does now says more about where CFMOTO has got to than any specification sheet.

The 450 SR is a 449 cc parallel twin sports bike sold into A2 markets across Europe, and it has been taken seriously enough that the aftermarket has followed it.

Thirty Minutes, and Keep the Original

The standard silencer comes off in half an hour. Keep it — the 450 SR is a young model with a used market still forming, and a complete original exhaust in a box is worth having when the time comes to sell.

Fitment and Compatibility
