DescriptionThe whole story▼

Read the model name twice. The 800MT-X and the 800MT are two motorcycles, Akrapovic makes a separate shield for each, and the part numbers differ by one character. This is the X.

Key Features

  • For the 800MT-X specifically, not the standard 800MT
  • Hand-crafted carbon fibre to the standard of the exhaust
  • Made for the Akrapovic Slip-On Line S-CF8SO3-HFTT
  • Plug and play installation
  • Guards the rider and any equipment carried alongside

Two Bikes, Two Shields

CFMOTO's 800MT-X is the more off-road-oriented of the pair, with different bodywork around the silencer and its own mounting arrangement. A shield moulded for the standard 800MT will not sit correctly on it.

The tank badge settles which machine is which in a second, and it is worth that second — the two Akrapovic part numbers are P-HSCF8SO1 and P-HSCF8SO2, and a digit is the only thing between them.

Matched to One Silencer

Akrapovic built this shield around the Slip-On Line S-CF8SO3-HFTT for the MT-X. On CFMOTO's own exhaust it neither lines up nor achieves what a matched pair of parts is bought for.

Protecting Equipment, Not Just Skin

Akrapovic's description mentions the rider and the equipment, and on an adventure machine the equipment half deserves attention. Soft luggage strapped along the flank puts nylon within reach of a hot silencer, and nylon loses that argument.

That is the practical case for a shield. The visual case is separate and equally valid on a bike with this much exposed hardware.

Plug and Play

Off with the standard shield, on with this one, using the same mounts. Nothing to trim, nothing to drill, nothing to adjust once it is on.

What a Chinese Adventure Bike Buys

The 800MT-X arrives with equipment that would be optional elsewhere and at a price that leaves room in the budget. Owners frequently spend part of that room on the exhaust, and a matched carbon shield is the piece that makes the installation look considered rather than bolted on.

What CFMOTO Fits As Standard

A pressed and coated metal shield, sized to do the job and priced to suit the motorcycle. It works, and after a season of gravel roads it looks like what it is — chipped at the leading edge and beginning to mark where the coating has gone.

Carbon scuffs rather than chipping, and it does not corrode where the surface has been through. On a machine ridden on unsealed roads that is a practical difference, not only a visual one.

No Weight Published

Akrapovic gives no figure for this part. Nothing is estimated here — a shield this size is worth a couple of hundred grams at the outside, and it is not why anyone fits one.

Three Model Years

CFMOTO has built the 800MT-X since 2024 with the same exhaust mounting throughout, so one shield covers the run so far.

Road Approval

Not applicable. A heat shield carries no emissions or noise approval. The silencer determines what the motorcycle is allowed to do.
