DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Ducati Hyperstrada 939 turns Ducati's supermoto-styled road bike towards touring, and it is made for covering distance whatever the weather. Its footpegs take a beating from that kind of use: road spray, salt, mud and the constant rub of boots. How long such parts keep looking good depends partly on how they are made and partly on how they are cleaned. Accossato's FT102 touring footpegs for the Hyperstrada 939 of 2016 to 2017 are CNC-machined aluminium with black anodising and a red insert, and a notch in the peg gives boots more grip.
Key Features
- Touring footpegs for the Ducati Hyperstrada 939, 2016–2017
- Aluminium, shaped by CNC machining
- Black anodised surface with a red insert
- Notch for extra boot grip
- Front or rear footpegs, sold separately
- Replace the original footpegs
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium does not form red rust the way steel does, but bare aluminium can oxidise and pit when salt and moisture sit on it for long. Anodising protects against most of that: the process converts the surface into a hard, dense oxide layer, and on the FT102 that layer is dyed black. A red insert breaks up the black. Accossato shapes the pegs on CNC machines and adds a notch that helps the sole of a boot stay in place, whether you ride with dry or soaked boots.
Looking After Anodised Pegs
Anodised surfaces are tough, but they have one weakness: strongly alkaline or acidic cleaners can dull the finish or bleach the colour, and many wheel cleaners and heavy-duty degreasers fall into that category. When the Hyperstrada 939 comes home covered in road dirt, rinse the pegs with plenty of fresh water first, then clean them with a mild motorcycle shampoo and a soft brush that reaches into the notch. Rinse again and dry. In winter, when salt is on the roads, do this sooner rather than later, as salt left to sit can mark the surface over time. Keep a pressure washer at a respectful distance so it does not drive water and grit into the mountings. Scuffs from boots are normal on any footpeg and do not affect how the notch works. If the black wears through at one spot after many seasons, that is simply the metal showing where your feet have rested most.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT102 for the Hyperstrada 939 of 2016 and 2017: the standard bike and the US version of 2016, and a Thai version that continues into 2017. Ask a workshop to fit the pegs, with fasteners tightened to Ducati's specified values and thread locker applied where the manual says so, and check afterwards that the gear lever and brake pedal suit your boots on the Hyperstrada 939.
Road Approval
For the FT102 there is no German ABE or Teilegutachten we could document. We sell the footpegs for track use; for road riding in Germany the original pegs remain fitted.
