DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XJ6 has long been one of the naked bikes that riding schools and new owners reach for, light enough to be forgiving and simple enough to learn the controls on without distraction, which also means its clutch lever meets more first-attempt stalls than most. Accossato's AGS01 is a silver clutch lever in the original form for the XJ6, covering the model from 2009 to 2015.
Key Features
- Clutch lever in the original form for the Yamaha XJ6
- Accossato lists the AGS01 from 2009 to 2015
- Silver finish
- Left-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, priced for repairs rather than tuning
- Accossato reports better resistance after damage or a fall
- One lever supplied
- No German ABE or test mark on file; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato shapes the AGS01 to match the clutch lever the XJ6 wore from new, so a rider replacing a damaged one gets the same reach and angle back without any adjustment at the bar. The company lists it under its original spare parts type, aimed at the cost of a routine repair rather than a performance upgrade, and it states that its manufacturing process leaves these levers more resistant once they have already taken damage. Silver is the colour listed for this fitment, and nothing more about the construction is published by Accossato.
Learning the Controls the Hard Way
A new rider finding the friction point on an XJ6 for the first time will stall it more than once, and a stall at a junction with a foot planted a moment too late is how a clutch lever ends up bent against the tank or the mirror. None of that is unusual, but a lever that has taken that kind of knock should be swapped rather than straightened, since the bend already weakens it in ways that show up later. Fit the AGS01 with a cleaned, lightly greased pivot, then set the cable's free play to the handbook figure so the clutch takes up smoothly for the next lesson.
Fitment and Compatibility
Because Yamaha shares this handlebar fitting across several unrelated ranges, the AGS01 code reappears in our shop under a long list of Aprilia models, including the RSV4 and Tuono families, and under certain Honda machines too. The brake lever on this particular bike is either the AGD221 or the AGD287, depending on whether the original left the factory in silver or black. A CNC-levers alternative for this fitment is listed under EDF016 and ESY688.
Road Approval
No approval paperwork was supplied with the AGS01, so no German ABE and no test mark can be quoted for it, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
